Activity on the video game front must have never been as powerful as it is today with the arrival of the Halo 3 ODST game. Xbox have been reporting a surge in sales and American customers were literally floored with the game hitting the top of the charts in just a matter of a few days. It is not that there were no alien war games before the advent of Halo. There were outer space war games and fighter ships orbiting the earth to protect it against mass destruction were present even before the birth of Halo. The only difference between these war games and Halo is that Halo ODST games were being constantly written, revised and edited by a team of human professionals that required a huge amount of human labor including audio and presentation skills. Other games were just the brainchild of a software programmer who could create programmable software to run these games. The element of human 3D models and their resemblance in the game was missing though there have been appreciable sales too of this variant.

Halo 3 ODST brought about a revolution in the way people looked at gaming and the world of games. The fact that the game was human centric and was playing with the charged up emotions of human beings falling as war heroes before the aliens was the turning point in the game. Not only in US but also elsewhere in the world the game stood right on the top of the charts mainly because of the intricacies and the spirit of adventure involved.

The earlier version of Halo 2 was strong enough to keep the gamers and the general public waiting for an upgraded version of Halo. Soon Halo 3 ODST saw the light of the day in 2009 and there was no stopping the sales counters. Microsoft was slow in starting promo campaigns of the game, but people welcomed these campaigns and waited the whole evenings to have a look before queuing up before packed stores to buy the game.

Priced reasonably, the game was sold out the moment it landed in the shops and replenishments had to be rushed in to control demand. Additional copies of the game had to be produced at war footing, packed and redistributed to meet customer demand. The audio effects, the easy maneuverability of the player trying to save a human soldier saw an upsurge in the sales very quickly. Essentially a shooter game, the game recorded impressive sales throughout the world.

Reviews written on the game by various users suggest the reasons why the game has become so popular today. The earlier version of Halo 3, which evolved in 2004, was equally popular but with technology not at its best than what it is today, the sales were modest and not the type it runs in today. Bungie studios and Microsoft game studios used the available platform in those days to develop this game and Halo was indeed a preferred gaming option in most American houses.
